XD Games announced that its next-gen RPG Etheria: Restart is releasing on June 5. It's going to be available for mobile platforms via iOS and Android. The game is also launching for PC along with Steam.
This announcement was made during the global pre-launch livestream over the weekend. The studio also revealed that there's going to be a final closed beta starting May 8. This should allow selected players to access the latest system early and check out the characters ahead of the release.
Meet Freya
Aside from the reveal of the release date, the studio also gave everyone a peek at what to expect from Etheria: Restart at launch. One of these is the new SSR Animus Freya. She brings chilling frost magic along with a layered backstory to the fight. Her elegant and glacial-themed design combined with devastating area control abilities allows her to play a pivotal role not only in PvE but also competitive team compositions. Freya’s narrative, which is shaped by isolation and resilience, mirrors the icy precision of her combat style. She's a hero who’s as emotionally complex as she is strategically versatile. The studio said that she may become one of the most anticipated characters in the game.
Gameplay Enhancements
The studio also showed the gameplay enhancements they made for the game. These include new systems like the Smart Shells, which offer tactical AI support in battle. Another feature is Origin Gear, a modular progression tool that allows deeper customization of Animus builds.
The team revealed as well that they revamped Instance Dungeons so as to streamline endgame PvE. However, they made sure to retain the signature cinematic feel of the game.
Multiplayer and Competitive Updates
Another feature that was shown was the cooperative PvE mode known as Phantom Theatre. It has players team up and try to defeat bosses in staged encounters.
Meanwhile, those who love PvP can look forward to the Real-Time Arena. This is a head-to-head combat mode where players engage in live, synchronous battles that require tactical thinking, team synergy, and real-time decision-making. Real-Time Arena also introduces a ranked ladder system that has seasonal resets, exclusive rewards, and even matchmaking that's designed to challenge top-tier players while at the same time remain accessible to casual competitors.
