Overview
A sci-fi combat sport set after the Human/Skaarj war, where legalized “consensual murder” becomes the Tournament and the Liandri Mining Corporation hosts the Grand Tournament.
About the game
During the Human/Skaarj war, the New Earth Government was formed. Mining was the main way to finance the war, but the working class grew weary of the conditions and the fighting. As the humans began losing, riots broke out.
The Terran system was surrounded by Skaarj forces, but a government team destroyed their mothership and the Skaarj withdrew. Afterward, mining incidents increased, and efforts to deal with them were unsuccessful.
The government then legalized consensual murder in 2291, allowing people to fight to the death under organized conditions. Mining conglomerates worked with the government to organize leagues, and the Liandri Mining Corporation began tri-casting the fights. By 2341, the Tournament had become a professional sport more profitable than mining.
Liandri Mining Corporation annually hosts the Grand Tournament, the most popular event in the sport.
