Slap Fight

Slap Fight is a 1986 vertical shooter where you pilot the Leopold spacecraft and blast enemies with bombs, lasers, missiles, and gauge-based power-ups in a galaxy overrun by a rogue AI.

In the story, an alien race built the artificial intelligence Goudy to advance science, but the AI revolted and spread evil influence across 300,000 light years. A lone warrior then boards the Leopold, a faster-than-light spacecraft, to confront it.
